週末の嵐、地域に被害をもたらす強風と鉄砲水
A powerful storm system moving through the region this weekend brought damaging winds, heavy rainfall, and isolated flooding to several communities, prompting emergency responses across three counties.
The National Weather Service reported sustained winds of 65 mph with gusts exceeding 80 mph in some areas, along with 3-5 inches of rain over a 12-hour period that overwhelmed drainage systems in low-lying neighborhoods.
Emergency Response Mobilized
First responders conducted more than 40 water rescues over the weekend, with no serious injuries reported. Over 15,000 utility customers lost power at the peak of the storm, though crews have restored service to the majority of affected homes.
Several roads remain closed due to standing water and debris, and officials are urging drivers to avoid unnecessary travel in affected areas. Emergency shelters at three local schools remain open for displaced residents.
